RESPONSIBILITIES AT ARTES
As CEO, Mr. Eder manages the ARTES design, development, analytics, value engineering, construction management, and forensics management teams to help clients determine the highest and best use for properties and help build projects that strike a balance between luxury and cost.He is actively involved with project teams during planning/pre-construction, design, and construction. Mr. Eder’s primary roles at ARTES are strategy, development and construction management, and real estate finance.
PRIOR EXPERIENCE
Mr. Eder has over 25 years of real estate investment, development, design/engineering, and construction experience. He founded a real estate investment management firm in 1997 while attending the Harvard Business School after a successful career working at Fortune 500 companies and in private equity. Having acted as a principal investor and manager of construction/development operations for over two decades, he is an accomplished manager, operations expert, and transaction specialist with several private investments reaching realized and unrealized returns in excess of 100% IRR and attaining a 64% IRR with institutional investor, ING.
Mr. Eder is also CEO of Newport Coast Capital Group, LLC, where he is responsible for managing residential development investment projects. His focus is on high-end design/build opportunities (new construction or redevelopment) with a spotlight on complex hillside projects, where significant value and above-market investment returns can be realized using creative engineering design solutions, value engineering, and entitlements expertise.
From 2013-2015, Mr. Eder co-founded a distressed debt investment platform at Trestles Capital Management LLC where he acted as CEO and portfolio manager, leading the investment team in the sourcing, underwriting, valuation, negotiating/bidding, and due diligence of multiple portfolios of residential home loans and REO rental properties totaling over $10 billion in UPB/property value.
From 2010 to 2012, Mr. Eder co-founded a distressed debt investment platform at Neuberger Berman that grew to over a $1 billion fund. While at Neuberger, Mr. Eder was the Head of Residential Loan Activities, Senior Vice President, and a Portfolio Manager.
For 12 years prior to joining the Neuberger, Mr. Eder was the CEO of Newport Coast Capital Management, a private equity real estate investment firm. At NCCM, Mr. Eder focused on residential, condominium, apartment to condominium conversion, multi-family, and commercial investments.
Prior to NCCM, from 1988-1997, Mr. Eder held various regional and district management roles at GE Medical Systems, Sopha Medical Systems, and ADAC Labs with matrix management responsibilities for leasing, financing, sales, marketing, customer service, installation, customer training, and maintenance of multi-million dollar medical imaging equipment installations and related software.
He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and Structural Engineering minor from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
